> Frequently Asked Questions

·        What kinds of toys does Second Chance Toys accept and donate?

o        We focus on only plastic toys (which don’t biodegrade in landfills) such as Little Tikes and Fisher Price brands that are clean and in working order.

·        Do you take battery operated plastic toys?

o       Yes, but we would appreciate it if the toy(s) you donate are checked and delivered with                 fresh batteries as the recipients are not in a position to buy replacements

·        I have toys at home I no longer want.....how can I get them to Second Chance Toys?

o     We collect twice a year, during Earth Week in April and for the Year-End Hoidays late November/Early December. Please check back for exact locations.

·        Can you pick-up the toys I have?

o        We are so busy coodinating, preparing and donating toys to needy children, that it becomes difficult for us to pick-up all the toys that are available. We would appreciate your assistance in taking the time to drop-off the toys at the sites we've arranged as it really helps us do more.

·        How can I get involved with Second Chance Toys?

o        There are many ways to get involved

§         Helping find and rescue toys

§         Dropping off toys for us to donate

§   Preparing toys for donation

§         Creating you own initiative with friends, family and other members of the community. Simply download a Second_Chance_Toys_Getting_Started_Kit.pdf to see how easy it is.

§         Spreading the word to create a groundswell of support by encouraging others to visit www.secondchancetoys.org to learn more about the cause.

·        Will Second Chance Toys give me Community Service Credit for my efforts?

o        Yes, Second Chance Toys will provide a certificate for your Community Service hours.

·        What is the best way to collect toys?

o        Keep an eye out on garbage day, after garage sale discards, talk to you friends and members of your community, and get donations through word-of-mouth. Another great way to get lots of toys in a couple of days is to find out the dates for larger trash days in your local communities. You will be amazed how many toys you can collect in just one hour. Come with an empty car!

·        Are there costs involved in preparing toys for donation?

o        No. All it takes is your investment in time. In fact we provide free support to make your efforts easier.
