> The Initiative
Second Chance Toys is a community-based initiative, founded by Sasha Lipton, a New Jersey high school student, which rescues and recycles plastic toys for needy children at local community organizations while at the same time, helping the environment.
Many plastic toys are disposed of when they could still be used. Given the nature of plastic, these toys often show little signs of wear and are still in good working condition. When these perfectly useable toys are thrown out, they become waste in a landfill, take up a lot of space and do not biodegrade. Hand in hand with this unnecessary waste is the fact that many children throughout the United States, who could benefit from these toys, go without them. Toys can be important to a child’s development and can help with creativity and imagination.
Second Chance Toys provides a waste-need solution to these problems. Unwanted toys, that are still useable, are rescued and prepared for distribution to children in need through local community organizations.
Second Chance Toys hopes to bring some happiness to children in need, while making a contribution to the environment.
